September 16 at 5:30pm – 350 Rhode Island Street, on the 22, 33, 55, and 19 bus lines. Street parking available.

We had a great kickoff to our campaign for due process rights for temporary workers last Tuesday at the School Board meeting! Thanks to those who attended to share their stories of long-term temporary employment and the unfair way almost 500 of our members have been treated.

This Wednesday‘s chapter meeting will focus on temporary workers and our fall organizing campaigns! We’re getting ready for the SNS test and next spring’s contract bargaining.

School Board Meeting at 6pm, September 8
Public Comment usually around 7pm
555 Franklin Street, on the 5, 47, and 49 bus lines

Over 200 of our student nutrition workers, 200 of our clerks and school secretaries, and nearly 100 other members of our chapter were improperly and unfairly hired as “temporary exempt” workers.

We are not exempt from justice!
We are not exempt from due process!
We are not exempt from fair pay and benefits!

We Are Not Disposable.

On September 8, join your brothers and sisters at the school board to show our strength and demand a path to permanent status for our temporary workers. We deserve respect and job security.

Do you really want to go to work “as needed” — not knowing if you’ll have a job the next day? RSVP using this form, or email josh@seiu-sfusd.org:

Why aren’t we where we need to be?

Join us this saturday for a forum on Safe and Supportive Schools and the Local Accountability on Saturday, April 25. RSVP online or call Gordon Mar at 415-994-2496

Saturday, April 25 from 11am – 2pm
Buena Vista Horace Mann School
3351 23rd Street
Lunch, Child care, and translation will be provided. Please

Last year, the San Francisco Board of Education passed the Safe and Supportive Schools Resolution to guarantee greater instructional time for kids that need it most by providing constructive alternatives to suspension and expulsion.

It’s time to tell the district to fully fund their promises to our students. It’s time to provide support in all schools for restorative practices and wraparound services for our families. It’s time to start taking this seriously.

On April 25, we will come together and explore what our families and communities need and how we can make the district accountable to provide that support. Join us at Buena Vista Horace Mann school from 11am – 2pm for an interactive discussion and forum on community goals and priorities. Help set the agenda for next year so we can put our kids before the budget.

RSVP online or call 415-994-2496
