The strike lines today were huge! Many families are growing impatient with the lack of progress between the District and UESF and it showed as they joined our ranks at the picket lines. Many of our members brought their children along to participate in the picket line or at today’s rally at Justin Herman Plaza. The momentum and the high-level energy continues!!!
Tomorrow: Sunny but chilly – bring your beanie!
UESF has made progress, and we’re hopeful we’ll see an update from them later tonight. The District has announced schools are closed for Friday. Schools also are closed on Monday and Tuesday in recognition of Presidents’ Day and Lunar New Year. Our sister unions – UASF and Local 21 continue to strike in solidarity, and the broader San Francisco community continues to show up and show us their Valentine Love.
Tomorrow everyone in UESF is encouraged to wear purple in solidarity with SEIU!!!
As we continue to strike in sympathy, this fight is also our fight for the contract we deserve; we want to be incredibly clear: We see you, we value you, and we support your decision. If you cannot afford to stay out any longer and need to return to work, we truly understand. We are a union family.

Tomorrow’s pickets and rally:
Join the picket line at any school in the morning then we will join UESF at their rally location:
12:00 noon at Dolores Park (across from Mission High School.)
Please come by the union hall and pick up supplies! 350 Rhode Island St (Kansas St Entrance) from 8 AM – 2 PM. We still have shirts, signs, snacks and ponchos.
Reminder that we have an emergency zoom meeting Friday night at 6pm.

¡Las filas de huelga de hoy fueron enormes! Muchas familias se están impacientando por la falta de progreso entre el Distrito y la UESF, y se notó al unirse a nuestras filas en los piquetes. La UESF ha avanzado y esperamos recibir noticias suyas esta noche. El Distrito anunció el cierre de las escuelas el viernes. Tambien las escuelas permanecerán cerradas el lunes y el martes en conmemoración del Día de los Presidentes y el Año Nuevo Lunar. Nuestros sindicatos hermanos, la UASF y el Local 21, continúan en huelga en solidaridad, y la comunidad de San Francisco en general continúa mostrándonos su cariño por San Valentín.
