We are so proud and grateful for every member who has joined the picket lines and stood strong this week. SEIU leadership will continue to strike in sympathy with our union siblings. If you can continue to hold the line, please do. That said, the strike is indefinite and we understand if you can no longer join the picket line.
SEIU1021 members have shown incredible solidarity on the frontlines with our siblings at UESF—from City Hall to Ocean Beach and every public school in between. The strength in our numbers has undoubtedly contributed to the progress UESF is making with their contract, and we are confident that it will contribute toward a fair contract for all of our SEIU members as well.
Here are other ways you can continue to show your support:
- Wear your union gear when you report to work
- Join a picket line or rally before or after work
- Share the GoFundMe link with folks who may be able to donate
- Add our SEIU email signature to your email
- Use our Zoom background in meetings
- Make sure your coworkers update their contact info so we can keep them informed

More people were out on the strike lines today than yesterday, and the momentum is real.
The energy at Ocean Beach was amazing, so let’s keep that energy going. UESF has made progress at the table; however, schools remain closed. We saw more SEIU1021 members AND staff, more parents, more SFUSD staff, including UASF, Local 21, and the broader community. It is so encouraging to see the love and commitment continue and stand in solidarity. As a labor movement, we have been holding steady and are not crossing the picket. We are extremely proud of each and every one of you!
We will have some supplies at Grattan Elementary tomorrow (165 Grattan Street, San Francisco, 94117), 7:30 a.m.- 9:30 a.m., for kids to make Valentine’s picket signs. We’ve got poster board, cardboard, paint markers, and paint! More supplies are welcome!
With the announcement that schools are closed tomorrow, we can confirm what we know thus far:

Estamos muy orgullosos y agradecidos con cada miembro que se ha unido a los piquetes y se ha mantenido firme esta semana. La dirección de SEIU continuará con la huelga en solidaridad con nuestros compañeros sindicalistas. Si pueden seguir resistiendo, por favor, háganlo. Dicho esto, la huelga es indefinida y entendemos si ya no pueden unirse al piquete.
